Our engine conversion designs are approved through the FAA with Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) and can be professionally installed in your airplane to provide you with more horsepower, allowing you to notice an increase

Texas Skyways Aviation offers several choices of power upgrades with New, Zero Time Factory Rebuilt or overhauled Engines for your aircraft. As well as offering 2500hrs TBO on all of our options for Cessna 180 and 182.
1953 Cessna 180 up thru 1986 182
A long-time favorite is the 285 HP O-550-F/TS for the 1953 180 thru the 1986 182. Our aircraft equipped with this engine cruises at 163 KTAS with a rate of climb of 1600 FPM. The Takeoff roll at gross weight is 400’.
Cessna 185 up thru T210
The IO-550 engine upgrade is available for the Cessna 185 thru 210 Models. These engines are 300 continuous horsepower. The IO-550 is simply a more efficient engine with the longer stroke of the crankshaft and cylinders.

“About two years ago we replaced our IO-520 and a McCauley prop with a new Continental IO-550 and a Bucaneer Simitar prop. It rerally improved our rate of climb – we went from about 600 to 700 feet per minute to 800 – 1000 feet per minute. The engine runs so much smoother than the old 520. “In the last 10 years, I had four Texas Skyways engines. The performance upgrade is just the best thing for a Cessna 182 that I ever found. We live in Albuquerque at 6000 feet take offs, the rate of climb is in the 1500 feet per minute range, which is double than what we used to do. In fact, in IFR flying we have a 13000 minimum descent altitude and we had to make three 360’s to get up, and now we just straight up to 13000. The speed increase is about 20 knots… I routinely fly at 17000 feet and at that altitude we burn around 9.5 gallons – it’s just an amazing machine!”
